We have a passion for honey

I have kept bees for a few years now. To me there is nothing more calming than standing in the midst of my hives listening to the low hum of the bess on an early spring morning.

It wasn’t until college that I truly gained insight into the world of honeybees. My freshman year I took an introduction level entomology class, and ever since then my passion for honeybees has grown. My senior year I took a Honeybee Biology course to broaden my understanding of honeybees. It is only fitting that I received a B in the class.

In the later half of my undergraduate studies I began to assist my mentor maintain his hives. By managing the hives with him I quickly learned the basics of beekeeping.

My full blown passion for honey began the day I first harvested honey. To be able to taste the delicious honey influenced in magnificent ways by the flowers around the hives changed my perception forever. Honey is perhaps one of the most interesting and complex food sources made in nature. No other organism can create such a delectable yet distinct product. I would contend that honeybees could stand their own against any Michelin rated restaurant. Honeybees take what flowers surround them and create a work of art so beautiful and unique it can compare with any masterpiece.

This passion for honey has lead me to create The Honey Marketplace.

Sincerely,

Jonny Bee
